As an independent, fee-only firm, Bluemont Capital Advisors, LLC does not receive
commissions on any securities or products. We are held to a fiduciary standard of care,
which simply means we are required to put our client’s needs first and foremost. As such,
we focus on selecting investments and pursuing asset allocation strategies that uniquely
serve each client. We work with your other financial professionals, including CPAs and
estate attorneys, to provide customized and comprehensive solutions to meet your goals.
In short, the goal of Bluemont Capital Advisors, LLC is to help our clients reach their
specific financial goals by simplifying the often overwhelming investment process,
providing thoughtful guidance regarding complex financial decisions and becoming your
trusted partner for many years.

Who We Are

Carolyn Stys
President

Carolyn Stys, President, began her career with Merrill Lynch in operations, account
reconciliation, and securities processing in Boston in 1985.

After moving to California, Carolyn worked in the private client group for Drexel Burnham
Lambert and in institutional sales for Lehman Brothers. Upon joining PIMCO in 1992,
Carolyn took over as Senior Portfolio Pricing Analyst leading the team responsible for the
pricing of PIMCO's institutional portfolios. Upon returning to Boston in 1994, Carolyn
joined State Street Bank & Trust as a Client Service Officer for State Street Capital Markets,
before joining Fidelity Investments in 1996, and bringing her securities analysis skills to
technology as Development Manager for FACTS – Fidelity’s portfolio management
accounting system.

Carolyn moved to Investors Bank & Trust in 2000 where she combined her securities
accounting and processing knowledge, client service skills and understanding of technology
as Program Manager for IBT’s flagship product offering, InvestView.

In addition to being the mother of their three sons, Carolyn is active in a number of
philanthropic efforts including 100 Women Strong and with charities that work with
children who age out of foster care. She attended Trinity University in Washington DC.

Mark Stys
Chief Investment Officer/Chief Compliance Officer

Mark Stys, Chief Investment Officer, started his financial services career at Fidelity
Investments in 1993 as a bond trader with Fidelity Capital Markets where he spent 5 years
trading US government debt.

He later became head of Fixed Income and International Strategy where he worked with
numerous Fidelity companies and, US and foreign investment firms, in coordinating
brokerage and investment strategies. Mark also held other senior positions within Fidelity
and was the Senior Investment Officer and Head of Market Strategy for Stanford Capital
Management.

Mark is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, holds a Masters Degree from
Webster University and is a former Marine Corps Officer; he currently advises the United
States Marine Corps’ Strategic Initiatives Group on the implications of rapidly changing
economic conditions and their effect on threats in various areas of operation.

Jonathan Wagner
Portfolio Manager

Jonathan Wagner, CFA, Portfolio Manager, has over 15 years of professional experience
with over 10 years of that specializing in portfolio management of both institutional
accounts (e.g. pension plans and endowments) and high net worth individuals and families.

Prior to working at Bluemont, Jonathan held a similar position at a Charlottesville, VA
based investment firm and at Charles Schwab & Co. He received the Chartered Financial
Analyst designation from the CFA Institute and is a member of the CFA Society of
Washington D.C.

Jonathan holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Indiana University and an M.B.A. from
the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of
Rochester.

Dr. Harald Malmgren
Global Economic Strategist

Dr. Harald Malmgren, Global Economic Strategist for Bluemont, is the Chief Executive
of Malmgren Global and currently the Chairman of the Cordell Hull Institute in
Washington, DC. He is an internationally recognized expert on world trade and investment
flows who has worked for four US Presidents.

From the late 1970s he managed an international consulting business, providing advice to
many corporations, banks, investment banks, and asset management institutions, as well as
to Finance Ministers and Prime Ministers of many governments on financial markets, trade,
and currencies. His extensive personal global network among governments, central banks,
financial institutions, and corporations provides a highly informed basis for his assessments
of global markets.

Harald is a graduate of Yale University, graduating BA summa cum laude in 1957. At
Oxford University, he wrote several widely referenced scholarly articles while earning a
DPhil in Economics in 1961. His theoretical works on information theory and business
organization have continued to be cited by academics over the last 50 years.
